“You’re gonna miss this, you’re gonna want this back, you’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast.” –Trace Adkins

It seems as though everything I hear lately has to do with the future. What are you doing? What is your future going to look like? Where do you want to live? All of these questions come swirling around over and over again. What nobody seems to ask is what did you do yesterday? Are you enjoying life? Are you happy? These days only come once, and you can’t ever come back to this one moment in time. It seems as though we are racing around; racing to grow up, racing to move on, racing to the end of the day. We need to stop and enjoy what we have right in front of us.

We are all rushing around, trying to plan our futures and make sure that everything is working out just how we want it. We often forget to take a break and just enjoy life. At this point in life we are young, whether you’re graduating high school, graduating college, or somewhere in between. There is so much more to look forward to but there are also so many great memories to be made now. Before you know it you’ll have a career, you’ll be getting married, having kids. But why waste the time you have now looking toward the future.

If you are in high school or are graduating high school, you are still surrounded by the friends that you have known your entire life. This only lasts a short period of time before you have to move on to bigger things, so don’t waste the time that you have with them. You are going to miss these days, there is nothing like it. There will never come another day where you will be surrounded by all of these same people again. You may meet up with some of them, but not everyone will be together again. Life gets busy and things happen, and you will miss how things were. You always say graduation took forever to come, but some day you will realize how fast this point in your life actually went by.

If you are in college, don’t rush this point in your life. There is nothing like living in the same place as all of your friends. It is like having a giant sleepover for nine months at a time when you can just walk next door and stay as long as you want. This is the point in your life to be reckless and make mistakes. I know you are looking toward the future and trying to plan what was going to happen, but relax, everything will happen with time. You don’t need to get yourself all worked up. Enjoy your friends, enjoy your freedom and enjoy your life. There is nothing like this. College is a one-of-a-kind experience, don’t let it slip away.

There are so many things that we rush through that we will want back in life. It is time that we just stop to smell the roses. Stop worrying about every little detail of life. Put yourself out there and you never know what could happen. You could have the best adventure of your life just by not wasting your time, don’t wish it away, and take it all in. Love life.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
