While You're Young, Slow Down And Look Around

One day you're going to miss "the good old days."

I was driving back to school the other day, and an all too familiar song came on my radio. It's a song I grew up listening to and have overlooked far too many times. It's a song that goes a little something like this...

"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These Are Some Good Times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"
- Trace Adkins

These words are so incredibly simplistic, yet they hold so much truth. As you begin to grow up, you continuously long to be older. Long to be married, have children, and grow old. But you never realize how much you're going to miss the times you had when you were younger.

When you could go right next door and have your friends be there. When you played outside until the street lights came on. The times when you went on vacations with your family, or simply to the movies on Christmas day. You're going to miss those days.

There will be times in the days you long for that make you want to go back to those days that used to be. The days that were carefree and simple. Where you didn't have to worry about bills, or guys, or even school. When all of your family was alive and well.

Everything in life seems so simple when you're a kid, but the complexity of adulthood hits almost as fast as you blink. One moment you're in High School going to prom, and the next, you're walking down the aisle to the man you're going to spend the rest of your life with.

Life hits you harder than you ever think it will when you wake up and one major thing in your life has changed. Whether that be your friend moved to a different school, your boyfriend broke up with you, or one of your loved ones passed away.

Life is a constant change of events. You move and you grow and you can't go back and change anything. So, why would you constantly sit there hoping for your future to be here already? Maybe because you know you'll do better, be better, and find better.

Or maybe it's because you know God is wanting you to pursue your future. That isn't a bad thing, but you have to be careful. You don't want to rush God's timing. You don't want to look back and regret not taking things slower and appreciating the little things in your life.

So, take life one day at a time, or go as fast as God wants you to. But, don't let yourself take your current life for granted. Because you're going to miss life one day, and you don't want those regrets.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
