Isaiah 54:11-12
11“Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,
your foundations with lapis lazuli.
12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
In these two verses He may be talking about the “Future Glory of Zion” but let's imagine it like He’s talking to us about our hearts, our bodies, or our minds.
If I give Him all of my broken heart what will He make it? Before Him it was an afflicted city lashed by storms and not comforted… or comforted by the wrong things and sometimes still is.
He breaks down our walls that are dark and ugly, made by cement, or old wood that is decaying and being held together with rusty nails.
He will rebuild it with stones of turquoise… Turquoise is a stone of protection, strong and opaque, yet soothing to the touch, healing to the eye.
The foundation will be lapis lazuli, which has the color of a rich dark blue and is the universal symbol of wisdom and truth.
Our battlements of rubies which was considered the stone of love, energy, passion, power, and was thought to preserve mental and physical health. We can stand in our battlements with the most precious gem surrounding us, guarding us from the enemy.
Whoever enters the gates of our hearts will enter through the sparkliest of jewels and precious stones.
We build walls around our hearts and wonder why we are never loved….Who are you without the fences?
You are a gem my friend, an eye catching, head turning, gem. Not because of your physical appearance but because when the light hits the stones and jewels embedded in your heart it radiates a light that is so bright others will have to turn to see where it came from and how it became.
Who are you inviting into that light to make the kingdom even brighter? How are you encouraging others to ignite their light with you?
