Dear fellow college spring breakers,
This is the most wonderful time of the year, midterms are over and it's time to celebrate. Grab your friends and do something worthwhile that you'll always remember and want to tell your kids about one day. Go on a cruise, fly to California or maybe even New York. Whatever your plan may be, make the most of it.
Don't think about your budget or if you don't have enough clothes or if you didn't reach your goal of "the perfect spring break body," just remember to have a kick ass time. As a junior in college, my advice to you is to live it up because why the hell not? I'm not quite sure where the time has gone that I will be graduating college in a year but life is way too damn short to waste time and sit around. Make sure you take on every opportunity handed to you, with safety precautions in mind.
This week I am about to embark on my third spring break with all of my closest friends on a cruise ship. Though not every college has the same spring break, I want everyone to hear me out. I want all of you to make this spring break your best one yet. College is where we go to meet our people, get our education and prepare ourselves for the real world, but sometimes that's not enough. We are so young and have yet to do so much and see in this world, so take this spring break to do so!
My freshman year I did not experience a spring break, yes I was young but I regret that I didn't make memories that I should have. My second spring break was one for the books, I had never been so happy—just thinking about it makes me smile. I want everyone to experience that overwhelming joy of happiness because everyone deserves to.
We set such standards on ourselves to meet these expectations to look the best or eat the best, but in reality, all that stuff doesn't matter. The things that do matter are the people you're with that make you the happiest because if they were truly your friends they wouldn't care about the way you looked or the way you ate. This is the time to remember that it's okay to go on spring break eating buffet pizza all week and skipping the gym for seven days in a row because I promise that you will not look back and think "damn that salad was good." Treat yo self.
We work hard as full-time students that have to work part time jobs and sometimes even pay bills. We deserve to treat ourselves sometimes, because who else will? I really want all you college students out there to keep in mind that the little things don't matter and that you're a hard-working student. Ten years from now you're not going to remember that one paper you wrote about global warming or Donald Trump, but you will remember that unforgettable week of spring break from your college years.
So do this for yourself or hell, if not do it for me because I promise you will thank me at the end of that week. Spring break changes you, it shows you there is more to life than an everyday schedule. It shows you that the world is your oyster, life is short and the world is so big that we need to take on anything it offers us. If you happen to make some stupid choices along the way, it's okay! These are the years in our lives that those are acceptable because, in reality, we won't have much time for them again. So if you haven't started yet, go make some plans and do spring break right!
Love always,
Your favorite spring-breaker
