We all know that famous line "School's out, scream and shout!" from HSM 2. It may be a very simple phrase, but every single student from grades kindergarten through twelve, as well as college, get a burst of excitement every time they hear it. It's finally summer time! Nothing like 90-degree weather, an overflowing closet of flip flops, and endless amounts of sun. Here are some ideas that you should add to your "To Do" list this summer.
1. Go For a Hike
One of the greatest features of summer is its warm weather. Take advantage of this to spend time with nature. Get a group of friends, put on some sneakers and get hiking! Don't forget your water bottles to keep hydrated and always be cautious and safe!
2. Beach it Up
Nothing says summertime like hot sand, bikinis, and beach waves. Whether it be a day or a week long trip, make sure you get the appropriate amount of vitamin sea.
3. Spend time with the Fam
During the school year, everyone is stressed and we don't always get the time to actually sit down and talk to each other. Make sure to spend quality time with your family this summer.
4. Get a Job
... and not just because your mom told you to. Getting a job can be a drag, but once you get one it is very worth it. A summer job doesn't only teach you responsibility but also gives you an amazing opportunity to make friends. Some of my greatest friendships developed through a summer job.
5. Read a Book
WHAT!!! A BOOK?!?! BUT SCHOOL JUST ENDED!! Hey now, not all books have to be torturous; there are some really amazing authors out there that really will inspire you. Make yourself a list of books that you think you would be interested in reading when you have nothing to do.
6. I Scream for ice cream!
This is coming from a lactose intolerant girl; eat at least ONE serving of ice cream this summer! You deserve it. Those sprinkles may be pretty to look at but they are even tastier to eat. and hey if you are lactose intolerant just stop by your local store and get some Lactaid. You deserve that twist with rainbow sprinkles!
7. Relax
Just chill. You deserve to have days in spent in bed watching Netflix. This summer, try to take the time to relax and take some "me" time. Of course, it is important to hang out with friends and family, but it is also important to be able to get to know yourself.
8. Have Fun
Overall, your goal for this summer should be to have a happy and successful summer. Get outside, socialize, and treat yourself. Most importantly, never forget this great advice from your middle school self- H.A.G.S!!!
