Daughter,

Your existence has made the world around me a brighter, better place. You have changed life as I've known it since the moment I knew you would be mine. Your smile lights up my life and I could never be sad with you in my arms. You're still only a baby, not even old enough to tell me you love me... but I know you understand that I love you.

I can't promise you I'll be the perfect mother, I may not always have everything together. I may mess some things up, but I will always try my hardest to be the mom that you deserve. I will never be too busy for you. I'll push aside anything to make sure you are okay because in the end YOU are everything to me. You will never feel alone, and that is a promise. I will never let you wander lost with no direction, I am here for you every single moment you would like me to be.

I will do by best to make sure you know that you are perfect just the way you are, and you can be anything you want to be. I will never put you down or make you feel silly for something you love, I will be your greatest motivator and your biggest fan. You will be accepted for everything you are, nothing more and nothing less.

We may not always have the nicest clothes, and the biggest house, and the newest latest technology. But I can promise we will always have each other my beautiful girl, you will always have a house full of love. I intend to fill your heart with as much happiness as I possibly can, and I intend to ease your pain with laughter.

I will raise you to enjoy the beauty of life and to appreciate all the little things, because in fact, that is what life is about. I can only hope through out your life you will take a step down from whatever you're doing and appreciate something small and precious, and think of your childhood, and of course me.

My dear daughter, I know there is no such thing as perfect, and I know that being you're parent will be the hardest thing I will ever do, but I will do these things for you. I may give you peanut butter when you asked for nutella, and there may be times when I am having an awful day and I'm being moody. But I hope you always know that I love you with every fiber of my being.

Love,

Your mom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
