Throughout this election, I've seen many posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that show young children and even babies wearing a shirt with either a donkey for the Democrats or an elephant for the Republicans. These children who are not old enough to form their own opinions are being forced into a political party that, later in life they might not want to be affiliated with.
Would you want your child to introduce themselves to a potential new friend by saying, "Hello, I'm a Republican/Democrat"? A person's childhood is meant to be full of laughter and light, not full of the stress and ugliness that comes with politics.
A six year old should never be subject to the ugliness and hatred that has been associated with this election. I'm 19 years old and I do not even want to be subject to all the hatred and intolerance that comes with politics these days.
Children are pure beings who haven't had their minds and opinions tainted by politics, and frankly, it should stay that way until they are old enough to know where they stand and what their beliefs are. Instead of involving them with politics at such a young age and forcing your views on them, let them be kids.
