Here's the thing... Everyone always tells us "you think you have it all figured out but you don't" ... which is true. The thing about that is that every single one of us has a specific and unique view about what exactly it is that we think we have figured out. There are some days that I walk around campus and think to myself "I bet nobody else thinks that way or sees things this way or that way" and maybe they don't, but it all comes down to your view of perfection at the end of the day. A good day for me is when I have an in-depth conversation, get a good lift in, have a large cup of dark roast coffee, keep up with my devotional readings in my daily Bible, and when I have a long phone call conversation with a few of my family members. Here are a couple details about my daily routine that you WON'T be taught in college classes:

It is MORE than okay to pray at meals at the caf and in front of other people.

Don't be afraid to say hello when you're passing someone in the hallway because you don't want to look "uncool"

Call your parents, A LOT.

Say "I love you" when you truly mean it because it goes a lot further than talking to multiple people... who may all end up knowing each other.

PROTECT your reputation. It's okay to be different... It's okay if some days you want to put your headphones in everywhere you go and enjoy the lyrics.

ASK questions. LOTS of questions. When someone you know isn't making it in a certain area of their life... ASK what you can do for THEM. Don't be selfish. It's okay to learn from the mistakes of others.

BAD days are OKAY. (just don't make them a habit) without the bad workouts, tests, conversations... we would never appreciate the GOOD ones.

LIVE a little. Yes, your teachers will give you a "this many hours, that many hours this weekend in your book or you will surely FAIL" speech. Don't be afraid to sleep in on Sunday, wake up extremely early to watch the sunrise on Sunday, go to church on Sunday, write poetry on Sunday, or whatever it is that makes you full inside whether it's understood by others or not.

Bottom line is... Don't be afraid to be different or do the things that others won't do. One day you will end up having all of the great things that they won't have. Stay positive.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

212
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
