"Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but they are not entitled to their own facts." -Daniel Patrick Moynihan

Dear Generation Z:

The above quote is a variant of one commonly attributed to Mr. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, an American politician, and sociologist. However, nowadays you are only entitled to that which you can argue. In other words, your opinion is only relevant if you can post your point of view on Facebook, and then defend yourself against the majority of your "friends list." Nevertheless, arguing is pointless nowadays unless you would like to spend the majority of your day going around in circles with multiple biased comebacks that rarely have research to back them.

This generation is known for its technology. Many people, when they see an article on social media that they agree with, decide to post it. Usually, without checking facts, dates of publication, and source biases; and we all know Facebook is known for its cherry-picked photos and opinions. The views, from whichever political party has lost the most recent election, are usually the most vocalized and most outrageous. However, do not get me wrong, there are certain aspects of each party for which I do not stand behind, and nowadays, it has become more about which candidate is the lesser of two evils. I know you all know what I am referring to, how could you not with the constant media coverage and slander thrown about from each politically affiliated news source. Hillary Clinton's supporters were known for a time, for their "Love Trumps Hate" protests, featuring the one and only Lady Gaga.

However, what are all the Hillary Clinton supporters doing now? I regret to inform those of you who stood behind Hillary as she was accused of deleting emails, in which, she allegedly conducted State Department business through a private email server, and through being accused of causing Benghazi deaths, you are spreading more hatred than your fearless leader Clinton ever did. As my friends would say, you are throwing way too much shade. Not to mention that the hatred is not only towards our newly elected president but for those who voted for Trump. There are several different revelations that were brought to light, which I could post about when it comes to Hillary Clinton, but I feel it necessary to show the opposing side of this political rift as well.

The above photo seems like an appropriate place to start for the accusations against Trump. Quoting Trump saying he likes to, "grab them (attractive women he meets) by the..." well you can read. How about the accusation of Trump mocking a reporter who has a mental disability. Better yet, his slew of racist, misogynistic, and homophobic quotes which I do not feel necessary to post. Nevertheless, throughout each of these events captioned in every headline, from the appropriate political parties gossip rag to the top new stands, I stood behind Trump, and this is where I intended to become personal.

As a Donald Trump supporter, I would like to state for the record; I am not a racist, I am not homophobic, and I am not xenophobic. However, I am sorry if you think, because I chose, who I saw as the lesser of two evils, in this election, that I am any of those labels listed above. Likewise, if your opinion of me is that I am any of these things, then I doubt I will be able to change your opinion. Nevertheless, I know who I am, and I am proud to say that I chose Donald Trump as my president. No, I will not agree with every bill he will put into effect, I cannot foresee the future, and I cannot tell you that Donald Trump will succeed in office. Nevertheless, I chose Trump because I could not see Hillary being a successful president and I did not want Hillary being the first woman to stand for our country. There is a better woman out there, and someday we will have her as our president.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump may not have been your first choice for president, or any choice for that matter, he is The United States of America's president. Whether you stand behind him or stand against him, as of this moment, I implore you to take a minute and bow your head to whatever deity you may believe in and pray that Donald Trump can lead this country. Because until the day you leave this country, Donald John Trump is your president whether or not you recognize him as such, is of no importance.

Next time you decide to log on to Facebook, please take one thing from this article. Your opinion is not the only one, and no matter how much you yell and argue, some people's opinions are not going to change. Always remember, no matter what, at the end of the day, we are the American people, and we are this country's future. So you can choose to stand together or you can choose to tear each other down, at the end of the day, which are you going to choose?

Sincerely,

Fed-Up With The Split In My Generation

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
