So remember at the beginning of the semester when you said to yourself that you would have a "productive and successful semester?" You've been doing good so far. You may or may not be up to date with your assignments or you may not have had any assignments lately. UNTIL NOW! It's that horrifying time when midterms sneak up on you. But the crazy part is that you might not have known you had a midterm until a week before because the professor announced it or a friend/classmate mentioned it. And that's when it begins. TORTURE.
Here are a couple ways to know you are not ready or prepared for the midterm season.
This speaks volumes of truth.
So after you find out that you have a midterm creeping up on you. What do you do? You begin your first of many attempts to study. And where do most people decide to go?
After so many failed attempts of you trying to study in the library, you lie to yourself and say you will study at home knowing for certain that is not the slightest bit of a good idea. So you convince yourself that this time would be different. So you 'prep' yourself by watching a couple episodes of your favorite show. Next thing you know, you have four hours until your midterm, so you begin cramming. There is no time for games anymore. But it is all good because you think you are a boss who can handle an all-nighter like a pro.
Then, right before the midterm, you feel unprepared. You feel your whole world falling apart. And even if you go into the midterm confident as can be, you still worry because you can never be too sure. You are never satisfied with the amount of studying that you have done in preparation for the exam. But of course, you try your best to keep it together.
As soon as your doom is handed over to you, you realized everything looks like gibberish. So you sit there, blank-minded, thinking you do not know enough. And that is when it hits you.
You do your best, obviously. You walk out, either pleased or worried like crazy. But either way, you begin to worry about what your grade might be. And that is when you begin to ask yourself the question: was it worth it?
So you begin to stress about something else, even after you just finished stressing about the midterm. You realized you might never be stress-free and cry a little bit inside (as always). But then you remember who you are and that you are a trooper and you can handle about nine more midterms that same semester. So you begin the cycle of the midterms again. The never-ending cycle of stress. This midterm season, you think to yourself, "I will be more prepared." And so the "I will do well this semester" attitude starts again just in time to rescue you. Good luck on midterms!
