You're not human if you haven't been there. It even happens to the very best of us. We all have our breaking points. And when yours is pushed, its never going to be pretty. The classic mental breakdown. It can seem like the end of the world, but surprisingly, we always seem to find a way to come out of it, and it goes a little like this...
1. Something happens that sets you off. Whether it be something you see, hear or think, something hits you in all your wrong places.
2. It's too late to go back. It's already seeped into the depths of your mind and its consuming all your thoughts. You try everything to rid yourself of this oncoming panic.
3. Nah, no luck. You're in full blown panic mode now. It all hits you at once with overwhelming force.
4. Now come the flood of emotions. The dread, the sadness, the terror. And, of course, the waterworks.
5. Aannnd even more crying! And of course, the horrible, paranoid thought that everyone else around you is relishing in your pain and is thriving 10x more than you ever could.
(Or...maybe this one's just me.)
6. You start to question your life and what in the world you're even doing with it. Oh, the existential crisis.
7. To detract from your mental chaos, you try to start a new life pretending like you don't care about anything at all and throwing all your worries away like you never even had them.
8. Of course, you're not wired that way, so you immediately reject your previous attempts and just pretend you're oblivious to your world crashing around you.
9. You hide in the shell that has become your debilitated self, never ceasing to panic internally.
10. Naturally, when people notice your odd behavior, you pretend to be confused. You don't want them to judge you, or worse, become a burden to them.
11. And when people ask to help, you politely decline.
12. ...because the last thing you want is for people to make assumptions.
13. Finally, you'll concede, and you'll allow your support system to offer some love and words of advice. Your mental breakdown will eventually subside, and your life will resume, and all will be well...
Because at the end of the day...
You'll learn to overcome.
