On July 1 Fergie released a new single that changed all of us forever. Reminded that in middle school Fergie was one of my music queens, it brought up some of my other favorites too. So, with the help of my iTunes playlist and some of my sisters, I give you a list of songs that were probably on your hot pink iPod nano.

1. "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston

Don't worry, we were all confused as to why he was suicidal.

2. "Whatcha Say" by Jason Derulo

You totally posted the lyrics to this song when you were mad at your boyfriend of three days.

3. "Fergalicious" by Fergie

#fergieferg

4. "Buttons" by The Pussycat Dolls

You didn't know what the words really meant, but you and your friends tried learning the choreography. #trust

5. "Replay" by Iyaz

Replay, replay-ee-yay-ay!

6. "Nine in the Afternoon" by Panic! at the Disco

Panic! was a staple in your emo phase (still is, tbh).

7. "When You Look Me In The Eyes" by the Jonas Brothers

Because you were ~totes~ in love with your boyfriend (RIP Joe's long hair).

8. "Lip Gloss" by Lil Mama

What'chu know 'bout me? What'chu, what'chu know?

9. "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5

Hit that high note!

10. "Hey Ya!" by OutKast

A true classic.

11. "Show Stopper" by Danity Kane

All my girls in the rainbow Cadillacs!

12. "Damaged" by Danity Kane

Gotta give them back to back spots on the list because they were the anthem for your group of girlfriends.

13. "Buy U a Drank" by T-Pain

OOOO-EEEEEEE!

14. "The Great Escape" by Boys Like Girls

Whatever happened to them anyway?

15. "Pretty Girl Rock" by Keri Hilson

When "don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful" was your caption under your new MySpace pic.

16. "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" by Soulja Boy

We all called the number, it's okay.

17. "Sexy Can I" by Ray J

Yeah, but did you ask Kim K if you could?

18. "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne

This song played without fail every time you went into Hot Topic.

19. "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis

CLOSED OFF FROM LOVE, I DIDN'T NEED THE PAIN.

20. "Lucky" by Britney Spears

This is still a bop and you know it.

Though the list ends at 20, we all know that your iPod was constantly getting new music because of the days when Limewire existed and all songs on iTunes were 99 cents (RIP). Maybe it's not that the music from middle school was better, but the memories attached to that music are what keeps us coming back. What are your favorite middle school jams?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
