One of the main, big things that college students forget about is the fact that their health is important. I see students walking around campus coughing their lungs up on their way to class. I always feel the urge to go over to them and tell them to go to bed and to get their rest. Students would rather make sure they turn things in on time instead of asking for a small extension on the due date. They would rather risk getting even more sick than talking to their professor. It's sad.
As a college student. you need to always remember that your health is the most important thing. You need to make sure that is in order before you can even start to think of due dates or exams. I say this because whether you are mentally or physically ill, you won't be able to put 100% of your focus into whatever you are doing for a class and you'll more than likely get a bad grade in the end. You need to be healthy in order to do well.
In my short time of being a college freshman, I have seen a few of my friends going to class as sick as a dog because they don't want to risk missing a class. They would rather suffer through it instead of either getting notes from another classmate or even going to their professor for help. Studies have proven that if you go to class when you are sick and miserable, you won't fully process the information and you'll just end up lost and confused.
A friend of mine, identity hidden for personal reasons, went a whole week without eating a real meal. She would have little snacks here or there each day, but she constantly stayed in her room when she didn't have classes in order to study for her test. She ended up getting a bad grade and she was incredibly cranky and moody with her friends because of the lack of nutrition in her body. Make sure you believe people when they tell you to eat breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day.
There are going to be days where you just need to get something done, but just try to remember that your health is more important than anything. We all tend to forget it and it hurts us in the long run. Eat your three meals a day, get plenty of sleep, always make sure your health is in order, and then worry about studying or due dates. In your later years, you'll regret not taking care of your health, so take care of yourself.
