Savannah is one of the most popular destinations to visit, and I am lucky enough to call it home. I decided to go off to college to get a different experience, considering I have lived there all my life. After being away for even just a few weeks, I start thinking about all the places I miss going to and actually have taken for granted. With that being said, I want to share the places I miss the most and would recommend to anyone lucky enough in visit my hometown.

1. The first stop you will need to make in Savannah is Broughton Street.

Leopold's is one of the oldest and most famous ice cream shops in the country. Michelle Obama even served Leopold's ice cream at one of her White House Tea's. Leopold's is located on Broughton Street, along with some of the cutest boutiques, restaurants, and shops that rival with even the biggest cities.

2. River Street

Sit back and watch the container ships go down the river while you are enjoying a praline from River Street Sweets. If you go on the first weekend of the month, you can enjoy the festivities of first Saturday by shopping for crafts and staying late for fireworks.

3. Tybee Island

Tybee Island is the best example of a laid back, carefree beach town. The sand isn't sparkling white, the water isn't crystal blue, but none the less, it is one of the best beaches you will ever visit simply because of the atmosphere. Take it from people like Billy Currington and Sandra Bullock, who both have houses on Tybee Island.

4. Spanky's

The most popular and locally owned restaurant that Savannah has is Spanky's. You can enjoy their world famous chicken fingers on River Street, Tybee Island, or South Side Savannah. If chicken fingers don't suit your taste buds, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

5. Forsyth Park

Enjoy picnics, a good run or walk, wearing out your dogs energy, a concert some nights, and even observing a wedding taking place by the beautiful Forsyth fountain. You can't go wrong with a day/night in Forsyth park.

6. City Market

City Market is located in the heart of Savannah, and it is great for a night on the town. There are a variety of restaurants, bars, great shopping, and local singers and bands to show off their talents every night. You won't leave here disappointed!

Writing this article has made me even more homesick! Although I love where I go to college and being away from home, I can't deny that Savannah is a wonderful place to call home, and I hope everyone gets an opportunity to experience it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
