Your Front Door Color Reveals More About You Than You'd Think

The first thing people see when they arrive at your home is the front door. One that fits with the architecture, is clean, and nicely painted makes a valuable first impression while one that looks a bit unhinged (no pun) conveys the worst possible impression.

When you think of homes, you describe it by the door color, 'They live in the house with the red door'. As such, your front door should reflect your taste, your style, and your personality. This applies to contemporary front doors and the classic design.

With this in mind, let's look at how to choose the right door color for you.

Your Front Door Color and Design

Your front door color and design should be a decision you make early on in any renovation project. There are plenty of door models on the market, but you'll find some will catch the eye and some will not. Try and visualize the front door standing proudly as the centerpiece of your home. This will help you decide if a front door is for you or not. Your door should fit in with the overall architecture of your home.

Next, you have to think about front door color. Here, you can go from something striking or something more reserved. The essential thing to remember is the last thing you want is color clash. That's a big no.

If you're going for a state of the art, contemporary door, designs are available that suit classic architecture.

A Front Door That Reflects Your Personality

Like the rest of your home, your front door should reflect your personality. If you are outgoing, you may want a bigger bolder color that's visible from space. If you're more reserved, you may want a color that is a little less in your face, choosing one that blends with the rest of the house.

If you have a dream color for your door, but it clashes with the window frames, you can always paint the window frames a different color. This not only allows you to choose any color you want for your front door, but a good color choice and you can create a beautiful contrast or the perfect complement from a color perspective.

Use Color to Make a Smaller Home Look Bigger

If you make your door, window frames, trim, and house exterior the same color, you'll find that your house will look a bit bigger than it is. Once your house is one color you can use plants, stones, and other accessories to provide character and beauty.

You may want to paint other architectural details in a contrasting color to make them stand out. Take a holistic view, however, for a more tasteful design.

Symmetry and Simplicity

It is a good idea to go for a one-colour design for your front door. They always work best as a block of color rather than multiple shades.

If you want to add a splash of color, the front door could be the best place to put it. It is a relatively small space compared to the rest of the home. As such, it is an ideal space to experiment.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
