The 10 steps of being a Brazilian.

Your First Brazilian Wax As Told By Gifs

Summer is just around the corner and this year you might opt for a wax instead of having to shave every couple days. You might have convinced yourself that the pain of getting a wax is worth not having to shave nearly as much, so you decide to make your first Brazilian wax appointment.

These are the steps you will go through when getting a Brazilian.

1. The Research

You scroll through the Internet finding the best place to get your Brazilian wax done. You want a place with good reviews, a good reputation for cleanliness and a reputable technician.

2. Making the appointment.

Once you find a good place, you make the appointment, typically 2-3 weeks out to give your hair time to grow. You might actually be a little excited. This is misplaced excitement.

3. The wait.

You're enjoying the couple weeks with a legitimate excuse not to shave. You might even walk with a little more pep in your step.

4. Game day.

The day is finally here to get your wax. You're kind of excited but also kind of nervous.

5. The walk of death.

It's finally set in—the amount of pain you're about to go through—as you're walking to your appointment. The walk (or drive) there feels like you're walking to your death.

6. The wax.

You go in and lay down on the table and wait for your technician to come in. When she does, she gets right to work, putting the wax on and quickly ripping it off. It could possibly be the worst pain you have ever gone through. You cannot wait for it to be over.

7. The aftermath.

She's done torturing you and hands you a towel and tells you without a smile, "You did well for your first time." You feebly try to get up in pain.

8. The wobble home.

No, you will not be dancing home after your wax. You take your walk home just slowly, being sure to be gentle with yourself.

9. Getting home.

You put on the comfiest pajamas you have and crawl into bed, proud that you went through it, but also regretting every second of it.

10. The day after.

You're no longer sore. You're smooth and you feel like a new woman.

Brazilian waxes are probably the most painful thing you can get done, aside from piercings and tattoos, but after getting it done, you feel reborn. So go fly little phoenix to the beach and have an amazing summer with your awesome new wax.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
