13 Things You Know When You're The Youngest Of Your Cousins

Forever the baby.

13 Things You Know When You're The Youngest Of Your Cousins

As someone who has cousins ranging from six to more than ten years older than me, I'm an expert at being the baby of the family. If you're like me, your childhood was definitely a little different than theirs, and here are a few reasons why.

1. They started getting married and having kids when you were still in elementary school.

You may even be closer in age to some of your cousins' kids than your cousins.

2. You missed out on a lot of adventures because you were too little.

Your mom claimed that she was just trying to keep you safe, but the way you saw it was they had all the fun and you got left out.

3. They will forever see you as the baby.

You're still stuck in their minds in about third grade, and they refuse to believe that you're actually growing up.

4. They loved to tease you.

And torment you and tickle you... the list goes on.

5. And you loved to annoy them.

You weren't going down without a fight.

6. You got lots of hand-me-downs.

Your mom got pretty lucky because from cribs to clothes to toys she always had someone willing to pass something along.

7. They got to do everything first.

Cell phones, driving, college, weddings, you name it--by the time you got along to all of the big milestones, they were old news.

8. They talk about all of the fun things they did before you were born.

"Remember when..." No, I don't remember because I was not in fact alive yet or (to further #2) was too young to hang out with the "big kids".

9. You're secretly the favorite.

The baby's always the favorite, right?

10. You might have a little brain damage from getting dropped on your head as a child.

Because, after all, everyone wants to hold the baby.

11. They got stuck playing little-kid games with you.

But they were always good sports about it and went along with you.

12. They taught you a lot.

Some things were some pretty good life lessons, other things were what not to do.

13. You still have your big cousins looking out for you.

You may be almost an adult now, but that doesn't mean that your cousins have stopped looking out for their little cousin.

Your cousins may have seemed so much bigger than you when you were little, but now you're so thankful to have some pretty great friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
