Younger brothers may drive us crazy, but let's face it. We would be lost without their antics. They always keep you on your toes, and you never know what to expect from them next. Whether you reacted with joy or cried your eyes out when you found out you were getting a younger brother, they have grown on you. No matter what happens, you will always have your little bro's back, and you can expect the same from him. It's crazy seeing someone grow up right before your eyes, and I have been lucky enough to have my younger brother by my side for almost all of my life.
1. You become responsible for another person
Yes, your parents probably do most of the heavy lifting, but you'll never forget the first time you got to babysit them, or give them advice. Not that I'm biased or anything, but I'm a pretty cool older sister, if I do say so myself.
2. You take a lot of the blame
Just like being responsible for this person, you also get in more trouble when the other person does something bad. You will be saying, "how is that my fault?!" for the rest of your life, but it's all a part of being the oldest.
3. You always have someone to do things with
Younger brothers are great because they will almost always be down to hang out with you. They're always hungry, so you have someone to eat with, and they can be a little wild, so you always have someone to go on adventures with as well.
4. You have someone to make fun of
Who else would be better to try out some new jokes on than a younger brother? They may not always like your jokes, and you might get punched in the arm, but most of the time, your jokes get a good laugh from the family.
5. You learn about taking jokes “too far”
With any jokester comes the hard lesson of being too mean. I've crossed this line a few times growing up, especially during the angsty teen phase, and I will probably do it over and over again, but that's what older sisters are for.
6. You become somewhat of a punching bag
From wrestling when you're younger to somewhat-real fights when you're older, your "little" brother might not realize his strength and leave a few bruises. They're like giant puppies who mean well but don't understand how big they are.
7. You get passed up in height in a split second
What happened to my tiny little brother who I was always taller than? All of a sudden, he grew a foot overnight and just passed the whole family up.
8. They keep you young
How else would I learn what's going on in my hometown or the high school scene while I'm away at college? You can always count on the younger brother to show you up-and-coming music and other trends when you're out of the loop.
