Why 2015's Young Women Should Be More Like Elle Woods

The year 2015 has been the year of empowerment and individuality for young women, and who better to represent those values other than "Legally Blonde's" Elle Woods? This fashionable, passionate, pink-loving, determined young woman stays true to herself while facing the struggles of becoming a successful law student and finding her real passion. There are a million reasons why the young women of our generation should be more like Ms. Woods, but here are a few...

She knows her fashion. I mean, really knows her fashion, and is brave and smart enough to not fall into a retail merchandise scam. Way to put the "dumb blonde" stereotype to shame, Elle!

When she has her heart set on something, she goes after it and won't even think to settle for anything less.

Elle Woods is confident and has reason to be: She got into Harvard Law, duh.

She's not afraid to embrace what she loves: her Chihuahua and the color pink. Although this particular look might come across as a little too loud for some women, they shouldn't be afraid to show off what they're passionate about. There's nothing wrong with loving your best friend and wearing your favorite color!

She follows her intuition:

Although she is very determined and serious about her goals and dreams, she always brings a warm smile and little humor to the table. Even when others doubted her, Elle Woods flashed them her brightest smile and reassured them she could do whatever she wanted.

Hello?! She like, invited the bend and snap! This dance move is women empowerment summed up in just two different dance moves.

She may have hit rock bottom (as several of us have while eating excessive amounts of chocolate in bed, too)...

However, she worked her way back up and discovered what she really wants. It's not a race, it's a journey. It's okay if it takes a little time to re-prioritize your life and realize that your ex is a "complete bonehead."

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
