It only comes around once a year and you're not going to want to miss it. The Alameda County Fair is a great way to kick start your summer running from June 15 to the 4th of July. Whether you're into scaly critters, monstrous vehicles that'll squish you like a bug, rock 'n roll with a little extra heat, or simply people watching--the Alameda County Fair is guaranteed to have what you're looking for.
For those of you that want a change from the typical petting zoo, make sure to check out Brad's World of Reptiles. There are various lizards, snakes, spiders, legless lizards, and even a couple alligators. Don't touch these critters though, unless you want to lose a finger or two.
Wildlife isn't for everyone. There are some people that would rather lose some of their hearing and get a little dusty in the process. If this sounds like you, the Action Sports Arena is where you belong. Watching these monsters fly through the air is just one of the events you can check out. You're guaranteed to walk out of there feeling very small and hearing a little less than you were able to before you walked in. So bring some soundproof buds and sunglasses to help yourself out.
One of my favorite aspects of the fair is the environment. From screeching thrill seekers piercing your ears to the abundance of fair food scents that hit your nose everywhere you walk, the fair scenario is unmistakable. I love seeing hundreds of different people coming together to attend the same event. It's also a nice place to visit with someone you love, be silly, and feel like a little kid again.
There is an eclectic group of people to behold. I mean come on, how often do you get to see Elvis Presley playing with fire? For those who like to just hang out and enjoy the views when it gets too hot or their legs begin to ache, the fair provides the perfect opportunity to people watch. So don't be shy, the Alameda County Fair has something for everyone. Yes, even you.
