We live in a world where we are constantly told we are not enough. Not good enough, not smart enough, not bright enough, not pretty enough, etc... Personally, this is something that I have struggled with and continue to struggle with most days. I never feel adequate enough, and I have people/things in my life that always make me feel like I can't ever be enough.I'm a loser. I'm pathetic. I will never win. I'm sure that many of you struggle/have struggled with this as well. I'm here to tell you that you are more. The devil thrives on making us feel inadequate. Don't listen to the lies.
What's most important is what God tells us, what God knows we are and created us to be. So let me go into scripture here. What does it say? What does He tell us?
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10
"Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life." -Isaiah 43:4
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." -Romans 8:1
'I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.' -Psalm 139:14We are more because we are His. God is alive and active, and He loves us so much that He sent His one and only son to die for us on a cross. One that we deserved to die on. But by His stripes, we are healed. Remember, you are made worthy through the blood of Jesus Christ. You are desired and chased after by the Creator of the stars, the One Who knows every single grain of sand. So when you don't feel worthy: reflect, pray, and read the word of God, His love letter to you. Don't listen to the lies, listen to the truth. The truth of the One True King. Remember who you are: you are His. You are WORTHY, you are LOVED, you are CHERISHED, you are BEAUTIFUL, you are ENOUGH. I wanna end with some lyrics from Tenth Avenue North's song You are More:
You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.
'Cause this is not about what you've done,
But what's been done for you.
This is not about where you've been,
But where your brokenness brings you to
This is not about what you feel,
But what He felt to forgive you,
And what He felt to make you loved.
