Dear Donald Trump,

Or should I say, “ Soon to be Mr. President?" You have shocked America with your victory, and from some photos, it seems that you have shocked yourself? You were the Cubs in the World Series; expect people actually love them. I am not writing to bash you or support you. I am not writing to bash nor support Hillary Clinton. I am writing to advise you that you are going to be the President of the free world, a country that people have looked at as a dream land, a land where opportunity strives, a country that is run by the people, a country where every voice deserves to hear no matter race, gender, or religious belief.

Your victory has brought many people sadness and anger, mostly towards you and this country. There is nothing that can change your victory, but what can change, Mr. Trump is your image in this country.

I ask you to understand the anger that some people have for you. Understand that you have hurt racial, gender, and religious groups where you basically want to strip them of their rights and freedom. Let me remind you on who runs this country, those people do and they have a voice that you need to take the time to hear. Respect the fact that these people are human beings, they are not animals so don’t you dare treat them or talk to them like they are.

Mr. Trump let me remind you, you have a daughter and a wife. Women in your life that I am sure if anyone had spoken to them the way you have spoken about and to in your past they’d probably have a few broken bones. You have a son Mr. Trump, try and be a role model for him and the young gentlemen in our nation.

To the immigrants you’d like to deport, I’d like to tell you that most of them are some of the most respectfully hardworking people. I do agree that there are a few that create a toxic environment but do not punish the ones that have built families in our country and probably raised them better than children from non-immigrant families.

To LGBTQ community, one of the strongest communities in our country, do not ruin social order to cater to your radical ego and the fascism of your VP, Mike Pence. I also wished you hadn’t chosen a VP that didn’t defund HIV clinics to fund electrocuting therapy in order to make gay children straight or a VP that didn’t ask women to pay for the funerals and the cremations of their unborn babies after an abortion when half of the women can’t even afford the abortions.

Listen, I’m not here to bash you, I’m here to advise you to make the right choices so I can be more supportive of you. You have a lot of work to do and I think you should start from now. I applaud you for your relations with Russia and other nations, however; do not make us look like more of a joke than we already do. Do not take us out of NATO or try and make Japan or South Korea pay for our military, we have enough enemies as it is. I hope you make friends out of our foes when you become President. I hope you understand the Hillary supporters and gain their respect, because God damn you need it. I hope your wife becomes a great first lady because Michelle Obama’s shoes are extremely hard to fill.

Mr. Trump, I’d say good luck, but you need a lot more than luck to win the love of your soon to be people.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
