You Underneath Time

A piece I wrote a couple years ago, but haven't shared much.

You Underneath Time

You Underneath Time is a poem about a broken heart and friendship. This is the tea sis.

You Underneath Time

I am not okay

I hate you

You don't know boundaries

You don't mean sorry

Sorry doesn't mean anything

Sorry, you said over and over

Over time it may get better

Over time it may not

Not looking back

Not thinking twice

Twice this has happened to me

Twice it's ended a friendship

Friendships don't always work out

Friendships are continually broken

Broken hearts are not easily healed

Broken relationships can not mend

Mend my heart I feel so blue

Mend my mind to think something new

New days bring new thoughts

New friendships bring new memories

Memories the good and the bad

Memories I think about all night

Nighttime is scary

The night leads me to think

Think about your actions

Think about what you've done

Done is all I can say

Done are my feelings today

Today I can't bear to see you

Today I want to forget

Forget that night

Forget trusting you

You don't understand

You don't know how I hurt

Hurt me once

Hurt me again

Again I cry

Again I made mistakes

Mistakes have become a "habit"

Mistakes are no longer just that

That thought is in my head

That thought plays continually

Continually I loved you

Continually you were forgiven

Forgiven no more

Forgiven not this time

Time will speak

Time will heal

Heal me

Heal my heart

Hearts may break

Hearts will change

Change this mindset

Change my mind

Mind my business

Mind your own

Own your mistakes

Own up to this

This is over

This cannot go on

On to something new

On a new path

Path to happiness

Path to a good time

Time to forget

Time has a limit

Limit the bad

Limitless the good

Good is around the corner

Good times never stop

Stop trying to be ok

Stop trying to make us work

Work for what you want

Work for the best

Best friends may not stay

Best days are yet to come

Come along this journey

Come to a new me

Me myself and I is what I have

I am what I need

Need some time

Need some space

Space to be free

Space to be me

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. Nobody deserves to be living in poverty.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
