How old am I? 18. Am I a college student? Yes. Do I still love everything Disney? Triple yes.
For some people, Disney World filled their childhood with imagination and laughter. Now, I am not saying if you did not grow up on Robin Hood and all things Mickey Mouse that you had no childhood, but you really should heed my advice and go watch something that has a shining blue castle appear on a screen in front of you. Disney was for me, an alternate reality, a comfort, a place where time did magically rewind and made me feel the innocence of childhood joy flood over me. Sure, bad things occasionally happen in Disney Movies, but in 99.9% of them, true love does exist, the main character finds their way home, the bad guys are stopped and *spoiler alert* even though a character passes away in Bambi, there is still a happy ending. Even though these events are not always our reality, it's nice to be given hope. The true message behind every magical wonderful Disney movie.
If you have ever seen a Disney movie, places like Disney World and Disney Land is where the magic of it all comes to life. I know a lot of people the parks are a commercialism scam to take thousands of dollars from you, just so you can see a castle, ride two rides and be terrified by the people walking around in chipmunk suits. Yes, I will not deny some of this is true. However, it is worth it, to go just once in a life time. Even if it is just for your kids or because you need some hope restored or a vacation.
One of my favorite stories about Disney World is that of my aunt and uncle. He bent down on one knee in front of the Cinderella Castle, in front of a huge crowd, and asked her to be his wife. Can you tell me what is cuter than that? Being two of the greatest people I know, this story stuck with me. It kind of made the true love theme of Disney real. It made it all that more special and exciting to me.
I have had the privilege to go to Disney World countless times, and it gets better every time, even as I get older. People ask me all the time, "You still like Disney? Isn't that for children?" My answer never changes. While, Disney might not be for everyone, and some people may grow out of it, there are still people who might never or have never truly outgrown it. For me, no I have not outgrown it, especially as a college freshman, learning how to deal with "the real world" it is nice to watch something that reinstalls the fact hope is real, even in times of turmoil and uncertainty.
