The New Year is coming and along with it comes a swarm of unkept resolutions.
Although some are successful with their resolutions, many end up recycling the same resolutions for the next year. Here is the thing: if you wouldn't be willing to do it now, why would you be willing to do it at a later time?
Let's be real for a minute. When someone says their New Year's resolution is to do something that you have heard them complaining about all year long, do you really think they are going to just magically change it because 365 days of them complaining has passed by? Me neither.
The idea of a New Years Resolution is traditional and fun, but it's becoming outdated. We have so many opportunities to do better for ourselves and we always come up with excuses to put them off. No matter the year, month, or the day you should always want to put your best foot forward and improve yourself.
Let's say your goal is to lose weight and get fit. You want to start doing that January 1st, rather than doing it now. Why is that?
If you want to hold onto your bad habits for just a little while longer, then you probably aren't that serious about losing them in the first place.
Going cold turkey on one of your bad habits might be hard, but if you really want to quit and that's the only way to do it then that's how you would do it.
We should spend our whole lives working to improve ourselves and be the best that we can be. Make your resolutions a habit that you love. Imagine if instead of waiting a whole year to work on ourselves, we just did it as we saw fit.
Work on yourself now. Start forming your good habits now. Want to improve yourself at this very moment.
You are incredible and you can do anything you set your mind to, so just set your mind to it now and go after it. Get a head start on what all you want to accomplish so that you can reach your goal quicker. You shouldn't need an excuse to want to be better, you should just want to do it.
I'm not saying a New Years Resolution can't be a good thing, I just think we should make a point to make resolutions for ourselves throughout the year. Start your resolution early this year so that you have time to start multiple more throughout the year.
