Currently, I don’t have any ideas that meet my standards for something I can write about. I am sure a lot of people feel this way about whatever they are doing. The desire to meet the deadline for their project simply doesn’t sync up with the desire to create something original and something that person can be proud of. What do you do then?
Depending on how urgent the deadline is, one could simply crack under the pressure. Maybe have a screaming fit, and throw their computer at the wall. This is a pretty rational reaction to the pressure of deadlines, considering they kind of are a prison for creativity. However, something I’ve learned from life is that people are as fierce as they can be when backed into a corner. Small spaces make people creative!
One could do what I just did. I just started typing the first thing that came to mind and went with it. Honestly, this idea is applicable to more mediums than one would initially think. If someone is a painter, they could grab a brush, and load it with their favorite color; then proceed to lay it on a canvas, and see where it takes him or her. You never know until you try.
Spontaneous things have a unique kind of beauty to them because the difference between something that someone didn’t think a lot about to make has a very different tone from something that was planned. They’re less refined, but the urgency, and fear, masked by a whimsical air, create something that usually impacts a broader audience. Sometimes people want to see something new.
The more effective, tried and true strategy, is to start your project early. To create something original, a few days of brain storming is probably necessary before getting your ideas down on a medium concisely. It’s unreasonable and a cause for unnecessary stress to wait until the last minute to do something creative.
