Are you present in your own life or did you take a sick day?
We skip out on our own lives so much. We get real caught up in the flow of life and just don't show up to our own lives. We plan our futures, we think too much into the past, but we miss right where we're at.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
We were commanded to be in the now. We were never told to worry about the future or our past.
We are all guilty of getting stuck in this sense of needing to fix things that have happened and even break things that we have no idea will end up broken. We purposefully remove ourselves from our own lives just to be present somewhere else.
Take time. Sit and laugh with your friends. Watch more than one episode of your favorite TV show. Watch two movies for your family movie night instead of just one. Do something different to make sure that you're all where you should be.
Right now we are so caught up in social media, grades, jobs that we literally forget birthdays, anniversaries, memories. Be where you need to be so you can remember the laughs. Stop taking sick days for your own life so that you can remember your best friend's birthday or your parent's anniversary.
Three chapters left for your book of 2018. How many memories did you skip because you were worried about something that couldn't be fixed? How many pages of this book are wasted because you didn't listen to one of Jesus' most simple commands - "do not worry about tomorrow."
Stop wasting pages and even chapters of each year's book on things that are out of your control. Show up to your own life and be present in all that you do.
