What Are Pinterest Mediations?
I love Pinterest and as a testament of my undying love, I've decided to dedicate a few articles to the wonderful tidbits that I come across on my late night scrolls there. Here's the first of my Pinterest Meditations, stay tuned for many more.
This Week's Quote:
I came across this lovely graphic years ago while perusing Pinterest and skillfully procrastinating from doing my high school homework. I remember feeling like it was talking to me. I'm a pretty positive person and off the bat, most people see me as bubbly, kind and happy. All that aside, I still find fault in people. There are people who rub me the wrong way, people who I write off as "douchey" or "jerks" or "meanies." Despite my name, I'm not always an angel, but this quote reminded me that I can at least try to be.
When I came across the quote again a few nights ago while searching for a subject for this new series, I knew this was the one.
At first glance this quote serves as a cutesy reminder to seek out the good in people and not judge books by their cover. It's cute, it's quaint and at first glance it's rather unimpressive, but then again, this quote isn't just about optimism, it's about rebellion.
It's about you and everybody else, about going above and beyond what's expected from the human race. Full disclosure: it's easy to spot out the flaws in a person, a situation and even in yourself. Like dirt, flaws are beneath all of our feet and just like no one's being applauded for pointing out dirt, you probably won't be revered after pointing out the flaws in everyone and everything around you.
Pointing out flaws is something everyone can do. I mean, even two year olds know how to show their disgust for mommy's new dress or overcooked broccoli. It takes a certain sort of grown-up badass to see the light in the darkness. These awesome dragon slaying gold diggers travel from land to land seeing the good that others can't see and enlightening the world with their keen ability to see things as better.
You can be one of these people, or you can be everybody else.
Next time someone cuts in front of you or you run into that guy you just can't help but hate, remember your options. Remember how easy, how convenient, how wholly unimpressive it is to see the bad in a person. Then challenge yourself to see something more. Be a rebel, be a hero, be a badass and go find some gold.
