This week, I finally found a free moments to watch Almost Adults. I had been looking forward to it for weeks. I am a huge fan of the cast and crew. Being 25, even though it has been a few years since I graduated college, I still can relate to many of the struggles the characters are going through. My life after college has been full of exciting changes. In the last three years, I've had so many new experiences. I've learned so much about myself since graduating college. My biggest takeaway from the last three years is "never underestimate where hard work will get you".
In the movie, one of the main characters, Cassie, is determined to work for a creative agency. She makes a minuscule mistake at her internship and unfortunately gets fired. Cassie doesn't let that stop her. She has a clear vision of where she wants to be and how to get there. After working hard and networking with her professors, Cassie receives knowledge about an opening at a large creative agency. After several interviews, her dream comes true.
Even though Almost Adults is fictional, Cassie teaches viewers a great lesson; don't let one bad experience deter you from achieving your dream.
The other main character, Mack, is coming to terms with her sexuality. She is petrified to tell her parents and friends. When Mack finally musters up the courage to tell her parents, she is shocked by their reaction. They confess that they had read her diary growing up and found The L Word, a lesbian television series, under her bed. They were so happy that she was finally comfortable enough to tell them. Mack had shared the news with her male gay best friend, Levi, but has yet to tell her female best friend, Cassie.
Cassie finds out about Mack's sexual orientation through a colleague. She was devastated that Mack would hide such a big part of her life from her. After a few weeks of fighting, they finally reconcile their relationship days before Cassie accepts her dream job and moves to New York City.
Almost Adults is the perfect romantic comedy for a girls' night or date night. It's available on iTunes, Vimeo, Microsoft, YouTube, Amazon, VUDU and Google Play.
