Some people may claim Wellington to be their home, but for many of us true Wellingtonians, we all share a common background. There are many things that make us who we are, whether it was our love of small town Friday nights, our love of summer days at the rec park, or both. Wellington has a place in all of our hearts, even if you’re one of those who are desperately seeking to get out. If you are a true Wellington native, this list should will take you on a trip right down memory lane.
You're probably from Wellington if:
1. You drove your tractor to school at least once.
2. You shot a 3 point shot at halftime of a Dukes basketball game.
3. You walked laps at the Lorain County Fair with your friends.
4. You had an Oh Boy at the fair and ate it on the tractors by the gate.
5. You attended a football game and had chocolate-covered Oreos or pretzels.
6. You were told that front row is only for seniors in the student section.
7. You graduated with at least one Farago.
8. You scavenged for items at home to take in for WEE (Winter Educational Event).
9. You struggled to pass Conklin’s English class.
10. You’ve attended a combine derby.
11. You joined FFA because your friends talked you into it.
12. You stopped for a coffee at Bread-n-Brew.
13. You played for hours trying to win tickets at the East of Chicago arcade.
14. You have waited in traffic for 20 minutes because of a train.
15. You spent half your summer at the rec park, because that’s where everyone was.
16. You voted for the levy every year, every single year (and it finally passed.)
17. You've fallen down the stairs or off the gym floor at McCormick (RIP McCormick).
18. You’ve seen the cops drive by at night and thought “They’re probably going to Mosey.”
19. You've slipped on the greasy floors of town hall.
20. You had Big Dog’s cater your grad party.
21. You had your high school reunion at Fort’s or the fairgrounds.
22. You thought that Nike socks and flip flops was actually a style.
23. You went to PSR with half of your graduating class.
24. You’ve attended Wellington star or participated in it.
We may not all have gotten along in grade school, high school, or even now, but there is one thing that undoubtedly made us who we are today, Wellington, Ohio. Never forget your roots, because I guarantee they are the most fertilized, plowed, and deep. This is just a small list of the things that made us who we are.
