Whether you are a Pre-Physical Therapy student or not, this could relate to any pre-professional program that is out there. Getting your doctorate or masters is far from easy these days! It is definitely worth it, though. Being able to train to help people one day is one of the greatest gifts anyone could ask for.

1. You are constantly checking APTA for schools to apply for...

This is THE place to look for schools if you want to be a part of the best programs. A majority of the time, you are going to find that if you do not have a Doctorate from one of these schools, you are going to be hard-pressed to get a job.

2. Clinics become your home away from home...

We all know that becoming a Physical therapist isn't easy, especially all the volunteer hours that are required to get into a PT program. You could range from 50 hours to as much as 200 hours to get into a program.

3. Practicing techniques on family members becomes expected...

Whether you are practicing taping ankles or different tests for injuries, we are always trying to work on perfecting these skills. Your families just know its coming, especially around the holidays when everyone is all together.

4. You have savings just for your PT school applications...

Money is a big part of this! The applications to PT school are far from cheap when you are applying to around 5 schools each year the applications are open.

5. When your friends and families are going through PT themselves, you are always wanting to help...

We all know someone that has been through physical therapy! They always come with home programs to keep them on the right track and sometimes some of those exercises are not easy to do alone. This gives us the opportunity to get some hands on experience with these skills, and it's the best feeling in the world.

Round of applause to all the pre professional students our there! I am one myself but we all know that all of our experiences are different. Never give up on your dreams. We are trying to leave an impact on this world, and all of these tasks are a small price to pay!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
