1. Staying up until 2 am to practice your instrument or work in the studio is perfectly acceptable.
If you're a music major you've definitely stayed up past your bedtime to practice. You couldn't imagine staying at the library that late, but the practice room? Of course!
2. You have playlists dedicated to your favorite types of music, including classical, musical theater, jazz, etc.
The pieces you've heard or studied have become so embedded in your brain that you have to create a special playlist for them.
3. You harmonize to every pop song you listen to.
T-Swift? Check. Arianna Grande? Check. Ed Sheeran? Check. You can harmonize and do runs like nobody's business when you're jamming out in the car or shower.
4. You have six classes in one day.
What is lunch? What is free time? It's hard to know when you have class from 8-3. You still manage to survive though.
5. You constantly think about what pieces will be on your junior/senior recital.
You already planned out the first half of your recital as a first year student. You have a list somewhere of your favorite songs that you've ever performed. We've all heard a piece and have thought "that's going to be on my senior recital."
6. You willingly listen to classical music in the car.
Sometimes it's nice to just relax when you're driving. When you turn on the radio your friends say, "What are you listening to?"
7. You carry staff paper with you to every class.
"I can take biology notes on this, right?" You own more staff paper than notebooks.
8. You dream about owning new instruments, song books, or equipment.
You want to have your own studio someday, but you know you'll be broke once you have it.
9. You attempt to conduct your favorite songs.
You've tried to conduct a Beyoncé song before and you're not ashamed.
10. "I can't. I have rehearsal."
Your friends want to hang out, but you have a two-hour dress rehearsal for your upcoming concert, tech week or a recording session. Sometimes being busy seems like a bummer, but it is so worth it.
