Being from the East Coast, now living in Indiana I know how culture shock feels. Us East Coasters may seem rude to you, but the fact of the matter is our clocks just tick much faster, no wonder they call it the "Beast Coast."

1. You’re caught off guard when someone you don’t know talks to you on the street.

2. You're always busy.

3. You can't deal with slow walkers.

4. You drive aggressively.

5. You use the Jersey salute more than a wave.

6. You have the mouth of a sailor.

7. You’re fluent in sarcasm.

8. People often think you’re rude.

9. Smiling is painful for you.

10. You're brutally honest.

11. You expect things to be more expensive than they are, and are pleasantly surprised when they're not.

12. You smoke boggies.

13. And you drink too much coffee.

14. You probably judge people on their fashion choices.

15. You can't stand the sight of deep dish pizza

16. You don't get why people eat at chain restaurant

17. You’re a serious workaholic

18. Sleep deprivation is normal.

19. You rate people’s value on their intelligence.

20. You hear "you're a jerk" too often.

21. You lack a filter.

22. You aren't offended when you're called a bitch.

23. When someone says "West Coast Best Coast" to you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
