You Know You're From Plains, PA when...
Good ole Plains Pennsylvania: rich with history and memories for many families and my home. It has been my family's home for over 100 years and we don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. When I think of my hometown I think of so many things: soccer practices at The Pit, my walks to and from Solomon everyday, Pizza Bella runs, grocery store trips, Deluca's, Peppe's, Plains' Meat Market, Curly Creme, Bakery Delite, kettle corn up to my ears, walks through the antiques, trips to the library, and everything in between. We are small, but proud. Everytime I even mention the word 'Plains' my grandmother breaks into her old fight song. For those of you who live in Plains or who are from here, you can probably recall a few memories you've collected over the years. For those of you who aren't here are a few ways to detect us Plainsmen.
1. You bleed purple and white.
2. You know where The Brick is.
3. You call it Mr. Z's
4. You probably have more than 2 generations alive and they're probably still living in Plains.
5. You have taken advantage of the many hills of Plains during sleigh riding season.
6. You get all your medicine from Sheehan's.
7. You, your parents, or your grandparents used to be able to walk to the movie theaters.
8. Your neighbors are also your cousins.
9. You know to stay away from the BOG.
10. You're walking distance from a school.
11. You remember when Turkey Hills was Eckerd's.
12. You and your kids have ever played for the Plains Yankees (Purple and white, fight, fight, fight).
13. Bonus: You know you're from the olden days of Plains if you still have a deep hatred for Coughlin High.
