In most aspects art students are just like any other students, but there are a few things that we all have in common that other students don't. Here are 9 things all art students know:
1. You own a clunky tool box full of art supplies.
People often confuse it as a tackle box or stare at you strangely. Also it's super annoying to carry, but impossible to go without.
2. You walk around all day with paint on your hands.
You don't even bother to try to scrub it all off anymore. It'll just be back tomorrow. Besides, it makes you look all artsy and stuff.
3. You can't just keep things "simple."
You may start out with a simple idea for a project, but all of a sudden there is a 3D dragon that also looks like a person's face if you turn the paper a certain way, and if you blink three times fast it changes colors. Seriously, it happens every time.
4. You find random art supplies everywhere.
Whether it be a drawing pencil, a stick of charcoal or a paint brush, they seem to turn up everywhere; in your coat pocket, in your couch cushion or under your pillow. Seriously you can't escape them.
5. You spend more time in the art building than you do at home.
You know what the inside of the building looks like at all hours of the day because you've probably woken up early and stayed up late trying to get your project done just right. Strangely you're actually kind of okay with it though.
6. You're never satisfied.
Nothing ever seems good enough. There is always something to improve on, and if people compliment your work, you'll probably respond with everything you don't like about it. We're all our own worst critics, right?
7. You collect random items in case you an use it for a project later on.
...and you usually don't. By usually I mean never. You never use it.
8. You have way too much to carry at all times.
Between the tripod, drawing tablet, and box of supplies, you're practically a pack mule.
9. You complain most of the time you are creating your piece, but you still love the process in the end.
The whole time you're working you probably can't stop talking about how much work you're putting into the piece, and maybe even shed a few tears, but when all is said and done you can't deny that you loved it.
