I went to Catholic school my entire life and so a lot of things stuck with me as normal and that everybody had to do. Here are some things that Catholic school kids struggle to come to grips that are not normal high school/elementary school things.
1. Uniforms.
This one is the biggest one of all. We all joked when graduating high school that we won't know what to wear everyday anymore. Well turns out that is not just a joke, it is a real struggle. I used to always be able to dress very nicely on the weekends because I rarely ever got to wear my normal clothes. Now that I have to dress myself everyday, figuring out what to wear is a lot harder since I have worn all of them so much and a lot of the times I conclude with leggings and a t-shirt.
2. Not taking long to get ready in the mornings.
Adding a whole other event that has to be done in the mornings is really hard when you are a person that tries to wake up at the latest possible time. I used to be able to everything within 10 minutes in the morning since I never had to chose my outfit.
3. Praying before every class as a whole school.
Not even before lunch.
4. Going to an all-school mass.
5. Feeling honored to be chosen for a part in mass.
Or terrified, really depends.
6. Always being told what was a sin.
So don't ever ever ever do those because you will go to hell.
7. Always having to explain that your teachers were not nuns.
I'm pretty sure they got rid of that a long time ago. Don't get me wrong: nuns, priests, and brothers were at school but were rarely your teacher.
8. You were forced to be in the church choir.
Even if you were awful at singing.
9. You were also forced to take some part in theatre productions.
10. At dances, "leaving room for Jesus" was not a joke.
A teacher will find you.
11. Religion was your hardest subject.
Even if it wasn't your hardest, you still had to work hard.
12. You made great friends.
You have grown up with them and you know they will forever be a good friend.
