You Know You Grew Up Skiing at Waterville When...

To this day, my favorite season is winter. I am so thankful to have parents that spent endless hours teaching my brother and I how to ski and so thankful we stuck with it. If you grew up skiing at Waterville Valley you must be able to relate to most of these:

1. Running around Town Square

Drinking "soda's", watching the fire works, watching other kids be idiots.

2. Sneaking into the hot tubs

What? Everyone's done it at least one... wait at the door until someone is walking out.

3. Taking the Schuss Bus to the mountain

Waiting in the frigid weather waiting for your big blue ride to the mountain.

4. Hanging out in the Realty Room

Until they changed the locks... Thanks guys (you know who you are).

5. Hanging out with the foreigners

The parties at the foreigners apartments were always lit...

6. You know the name of every trail...

You've skied them a million and one times, you could even ski them with your eyes closed.

7. You always go to Mean Jean's cash register during the lunch rush

She has the most efficient system for people paying and faster lines. She knows whats up.

8. Hot laps on Leroy's Loop

Just for sh*ts and gigs.

9. RIP Quadzilla

Thanks Sununu...

10. Being scared of True Grit and Lower Bobby's

Once you get over the headwall they are a piece of cake.

11. Knowing where all the woods trails are...

Behind Sunny Side, Upper Stillness Woods, Old T Trees, they are everywhere!

12. High country never being open

Whats up with that, Butch? High Country always has the freshies but is always closed. It's not that often that we get pow days on the East Coast.

13. Hot Cocoa Breaks in the Schwendii Hutte

Camp out in Schwendii for a while with a nice cup of hot cocoa.

14. Watching the races

Moguls, GS, freestyle. Lets be real... are you there for their skiing ability or the cute boys in their GS suits?

15. Big Air Competitions

The night competitions under the lights... talk about great skiers.

16. Kids Kamp pins

If you had all of the pins you were basically the sh*t.

17. FINALLY, a trail expansion

The moment we have all been waiting for!

18. Buying overpriced candy from Jugtown

Paying $3 for a tootsie pop... wtf.

19. Taking the cross-country trails home from the mountain

Just kidding...

20. Tray sledding outside of Sunny Side Lodge

You're never too old to tray slide, as we got older we would try to stand on the trays and see how long we would last.

21. Jumping on the Poma

Flips galore. I once got the shortest one and was dragged up it.

22. Some of your best friends came from this place we call home

To me, Waterville will always be my home mountain. It is where I met some of my closest friends and I am so thankful we will always be able to share these memories.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
