1. The first thing you learn on campus is how to chant our famous OOOOO-SSSSS-UUUUU- Cowboys!- Chant.
2. To remodel a Mean Girls quote, “On Fridays we wear orange.” When you walk to class on Fridays sporting a vibrant, in your face, orange shirt and so are all your sleep-deprived peers.
3. You are on a road trip with your besties and happen to notice that the car next to has and OSU license plate and a Pistol Pete bumper sticker, so naturally you tell your friend to drive faster to catch up to the car. As you pull up next to them you make eye contact and put your “pistols” up. And instead of giving you that I’m confused as to what is going on face, they crack a smile and put their pistols right up there in the car window. If you have ever experienced this, you know you go to OSU.
4. Anytime OSU sports are mentioned, it doesn’t matter what the conversation is, you end it with Go pokes, am I right?”
5. You always dress for the cold when its warm/hot and vice versa, its terribly hard to figure out Stillwater and it’s bipolar weather patterns. One minute your wearing your raincoat trying to survive a torrential downpour next minute, BOOM it’s a million degrees outside and your sweating profusely…and that is Stillwater for you.
6. The word Norman is always followed by Boo…Doesn’t matter the context. We are competitive folk, especially when it comes to OU.
7. Speaking of OU. You know you go to OSU when the football team is playing OU in their annual Bedlam game, and we win. You are in your dorm room and you hear the people before you see them. Everyone is screaming/chanting/singing, and people are decked out in orange and covered in face paint. So you peek outside and there is an OU flag engulfed in flames. Yep, us Cowboys and our contempt for all that is OU runs deep. Go Pokes!
8. When your High School friends and family from home ask you about Homecoming, and you can’t seem to rack your brain for words sufficient enough to explain it. It’s an experience. All those hours a week we spend pomping a float that is up for two days can’t really be explained.
9. When the whole town of Stillwater rolls out to every sporting event; basketball, football, you name it Stillwater represents.
10. When your best friend greets you at your door after going home for a weekend sporting her OSU “fan fist.” What is a fan fist you might ask? Well it’s a giant, hulk-like, orange fist. But the fun doesn’t stop there, cause this fan fist isn’t only the epitome of fan-dome but likewise remedies that game-day thirst with its built-in cup holder.
