You Know You're Home For The Holidays In Freehold When...

Now that the holidays are basically over, the craziness and full schedules leave with it and the realization that you have a few weeks of absolutely nothing to do before school begins again, sets in. You begin to miss your school friends, having your own place and not living under your parents' roof. But on the bright side, you have home cooked meals, a great place for laundry, no classes, and your family. Being back home for winter break can either be the best or the worst, it just depends on what you make of it.

Each and every small town has their good and bad, and here are a few things everyone who lives in Freehold, New Jersey, knows all too well to be the best and most memorable places when visiting home.

The Cabin
The best place for pizza and wing specials, especially on Monday Nights, if I remember correctly.

Federici's
"In the spirit of a neighborhood trattoria, we welcome you to celebrate the tastes of Italy at our family owned and operated restaurant. For over 93 years, Federici’s has built its reputation on the old world belief that gathering friends and family around the table is one of life’s most simple and fundamental pleasures."

Sweet Lew's
This quaint little brunch spot is always bustling with happy customers from their amazing breakfast and lunch meals.

Cafe 360
Another great spot for either breakfast or lunch, coffee, hookah and don't forget, their gelato.

Rita's
Unfortunately, at this time it is closed for the winter, but we all are waiting patiently for the first day of spring to arrive in order to get our fill of the (free) first taste of Italian Ice.

Sorrento's Subs
No better lunch than grabbing a bunch of different subs (yes, subs, not hoagies) and splitting them with everyone.

Terrace Bagels
THE BEST BAGELS EVER. End of story.

Court Jester
This cozy pub-like atmosphere is great for a drink or food, or both!

Freehold Raceway Mall
Even though many changes have been made since we were younger, the mall or bigger and better than ever. With ton's of stores (including a Forever 21 with 2 floors) and places to eat, you can always spend hours getting lost in here.

AMC Freehold Theater's
Conveniently located right next to the mall, they also have had some updates, like plush lounge chairs instead of tiny old movie seats. Just make sure to buy your tickets beforehand because they sell out quickly.

Fusha
For the best, and cheapest sushi around. They have an entire menu that is ALWAYS on sale and is always amazing.

With restaurants, take out and diners galore, these are just a few of the best places here in Freehold.

If you need a new series to watch, I recommend One Tree Hill. I watched this series three times now and it only keeps getting better. If you need any more reasons beside the fact that all of the seasons are on Netflix for your binge-watching pleasure, here are seven more reasons to watch it.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.

cousins
Bailey Totten

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.
