You Know You Are From Johns Creek, Georgia When...

Lying between the cities of Duluth and Alpharetta is a suburb known as Johns Creek, Georgia. Although the city was only established in 2006, the area has created an identity for itself long before the official city came into being. You know you are from Johns Creek when...

1. You tell people you're from Atlanta.

Sure, we may live twenty minutes OTP on a good day, but hey, Atlanta is in the same county as us so we are close enough right?

2. ALTA and USTA are sacred.

If you are from Johns Creek, there is a good chance your mom was on the neighborhood tennis league. Nothing would stop these ladies from earning the "City Champs" car magnet to proudly flaunt around on their mini vans.

3. Football rivalries are on a whole new level.

Although pretty much all of the high schools' football teams in the area are sub par, we take our rivalries seriously. I mean, who can forget that one year we all decided to make rap videos dissing each other's schools? Polos and Sperrys, thats all we wear-ie.

4. 15-year-olds get brand new cars.

Yup you read that right. many fifteen year olds in Johns Creek will get a brand new Mercedes Benz or Jeep Wrangler so that they can start "practicing" their driving skills.

5. Camp All American was the place to be.

With a summer camp right in our backyards growing up, there is a good chance you grew up flying through the air on the Big Swing and singing songs like "God Loves the Aliens Too" during your summers.

6. You can't name a local restaurant to save your life.

Johns Creek pretty much has every single chain restaurant you can name, but trying to find a local place is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. If you want to find local cuisine, just go to Duluth or Roswell.

7. Celebrity run-ins are pretty common.

Although we hate to admit it, many celebrities and *sigh* reality show starts call Johns Creek their home. Celebrity run-ins can happen anywhere, even at Publix.

8. You have to travel to other suburbs for fun.

Unless your kind of fun is going to the movie theater, there is pretty much nothing to do in Johns Creek. You have to travel at least twenty minutes to Roswell, Cumming, Duluth, or Alpharetta to find something to do.

9. You live next to a "massage parlor."

I'm not going into details here. You already know exactly what I am talking about.

10. Country Clubs are everywhere.

With more than 50,000 yards of golf courses in the city, its no surprise we have been the hosts of some pretty big tournaments, including the PGA Championship in 2011.

11. Your mom lives for bunco night.

Moms don't joke around when it comes to Bunco, especially here in Johns Creek.

12. Sara's Doughnuts has your heart.

You have never lived until you try their Red Velvet doughnut. Trust me, this place is life changing.

Although at times we say we hate living in Johns Creek, the truth is we would have it no other way. No matter where you end up, Johns Creek will always be our home.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
