Now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays are coming to an end, New Year's Eve is approaching fast! Some make resolutions, while others decide its just a fresh start and go with the flow. I however, love to make goals. Not necessarily resolutions, but things to look forward to in the New Year! So set back, because here is a list of 16 things to look forward to in 2016!
Party Time
Everyone looks forward to New Year's Eve where they can dress up and hang out with friends or their significant other and just have fun and ring in the new year together! Don't forget the high-key wishes to get a big ole smooch at midnight when the ball drops! (silent clasps because I finally get one this year).
20-Fun
Well, I dunno what you readers ages are, but this year I turn 21 and that to me is a huge thing to look forward to! So, if you're turning 20-fun this year, happy early birthday! We finally made it! We are big kids now!
New Year, New Major
Since it is a new year, that means a brand new semester with all new classes. What a relief, right? Accounting from last semester is no longer something to dread, however if you are like me, it may still give you nightmares. The importance of this semester is if you did not do too well fall semester, really buckle down this semester or change your major if you're just not happy. Remember y'all: you'll never work a day in your life if you have a job you love.
BE HAPPY!
Emphasis on the happy! This is the most important goal for 2016 in my opinion. This is your year, so get rid of all the negative things or people in your life. It's okay to outgrow those who aren't growing.
You is Smart, You is Kind, You is Beautiful
2016 means new possibilities for love to blossom, but if it doesn't happen like that let it teach you something and remember: you is smart, you is kind, you is beautiful! Simple as that!
Girl Power
You know what, I am sorry but this world is too messed up as it is for girls to add on with all the drama and being mean! Y'all, it is time we start being nice to each other. Become BFF's and go to Starbucks, for heaven's sake. If Linda wants to wing her liner and cake on makeup, girl you better tell her she's flawless. Negativity is so last year! Let's really lift each other up!
WERK IT!
So, sadly my freshman 15 never really came off all the way...If you can relate, maybe hit the gym a few times a week to burn off some steam and pounds. We have to take care of ourselves, ladies and gents! Don't forget your squats though ladies, so you can break those boys hearts if need be!
Glo'd Up
My Werk it tips kinda relate to this one, but 2016 can be all about you in some ways. Not to be vain, but really take care of your appearance and try new things. For example, I wanna cut my hair short, and so I think I am gonna do that. Also, need to perfect my contour because all of y'alls looks on point and I am just slacking. My point is, make a little time for yourself once a week or month to do something for yourself. Whether its buy new makeup or get your nails done. You deserve it, girlfriend!
Adventure Is Out There
New Year means new adventures, so put your Nikes on and take off! Go hike or try kayaking! Maybe even rock climbing! You may find a new hobby and love it, but you'll never know until you try! Listen though, I went hiking the other day with my boyfriend, and had to slide down a mountain, and let's just say that old age is slowly creeping up on me! It's no joke! We got exploring to do before are joints start locking up.
Pass It On
This year, make the initiative to help others out! You really just do not know how positively it will impact them, but I bet you they will never forget it! Help out at the animal shelter walking the puppies every Friday. I mean c'mon, who doesn't love free puppy kisses! Or go to the nursing home and visit the elderly. They would love to see you and tell you stories of the past! It does not take much to be a good person!
Spring Breaaak!
I know Christmas was like two days ago, but let's face it. We already need another break, and in my opinion Spring Break is the best of them all! It is definitely one thing to look forward to in 2016! I hope to see you all on a beach somewhere come March!
Your Hotline Isn't Blingin'
If your phone isn't blinging, put it down! I love social media just as much as everyone else, but I am realizing what is on your phone screen is temporary and everything else around you means way more. We are missing out, people! Instagram likes are no excuse to be on your phone when you're at lunch with grandma!
Hokus, I Am Brokus!
Being in college means spending lots of money, and I mean lots of money! This semester and year I have made a personal goal to really stretch a dollar and save a little. Rent comes fast and gas does, too! Really utilize those gift cards your fam got you! If you're a white girl like me a received a lot of Starbucks gift cards, God bless that relative of yours! But really! So, don't overdraw your American Express and be broke!
"My Momma Don't Like You"
Thanks to J-Biebs when you tweet those lyrics you get lots of retweets, so that's awesome. No, but really. Justin had a point with his song "Love Yourself." You do not need a pesky ex coming back around in 2016 trying to hit you up and mess your life up again. Leave them in 2015, people! Find a new lover, and make them wish it was them! It'll be too late though, and it would not matter anyhow because your momma don't like 'em!
Resume Problems
Senior year is slowly approaching and so is the real world! There is no better time to update and play around with your resume than now! The sooner the better, and do not forget to really emphasize on the amazing person you are! Employers will be silly not to hire you! You got this!
You Go, Glen Coco!
You did it! You survived 2015 and all the struggles that came with it! You are stronger, smarter and alive because your momma did not murder you when you showed her your final grades! That just means 2016 is going to be a piece of cake for you! So, happy New Year to everyone and let's make this the best year yet! You go, Glen Coco!
