If You Give A Girl A Dog

Who cares about diamonds?

If You Give A Girl A Dog
Alli Michal Huff

Let's face it. Dogs are a girl's best friend. We would rather have a dog over a diamond any day. Basically, getting a dog is life changing. We will never know what we did to deserve dogs, but we sure are glad we did it. Here are some things that will happen if you give a girl a dog.

She will miss him/her when they are gone.

We have to leave our fur babies behind for various reasons. Some of us have to leave for school, work or vacation. No matter the reason, we miss them so bad and think about them frequently. We are not above face timing our dog or asking for pictures to be sent to us.

She will be overprotective.

When it comes to dogs we gain motherly instincts. We will do anything to protect them. We will even spoil them sometimes. We will not let anyone hurt them or saying anything mean about them. They are kind of like our children with wet noses.

She will use him/her for therapeutic reasons.

When we are down we will use them as our outlet. There are few things that snuggling a dog cannot fix. Also, dogs always know. They know when you are sick or sad. They also know if someone is not nice. You can count on them to fix your problems and to listen.

She will want to take him/her everywhere.

We cannot help it because they make everything better. There really is no line when it comes to what we will want to bring our dog to. We would take them to work or school if we could.

She will want more.

Is there even such a thing as too many puppies? Like anything that is good we will want more. We will want all the dogs so we can have all the loving and adventures.

Half of her food will mysteriously dissapear.

Half of our food is already claimed to our dogs. We will sneak things under the table, ask for a doggy bag, or just flat out prepare them a meal. We know food is the way to their heart.

She will subject herself and her possessions to being a chew toy.

We know that are things are always at risk to being chewed on and a lot of our things have chew marks on them. It just shows character. We are mainly happy if they are not chewing on us.

She will get so much love.

We will get some of the best love in the world. We will see what it is like to show and receive unconditional love.

She wont stop talking about him/her.

She will always try to show everyone pictures of the dog. She will always find a way to bring it up in conversation and she loves when people ask her about it.

They will share many laughs.

Dogs are goofy and can be quite clumsy. They are such characters. They will have tons of laughs together.

They will be best friends forever.

She will always think of her dog as her best friend. She will always know that they have each others back and love each others company.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
