You Don't Want, To, But You Seriously Have To.

We Have A Responsibility To Our Nation And To Ourselves

It's our first time voting, but you don't want to vote. Neither one of the presumptive candidates have a middle ground, making it incredibly hard to decide. This election is basically picking which virus you want to have for the next four years. To top it off, this is the first election most millennials are voting in. It's definitely not the best election, but this a memorable one that we have the deciding factor in.

As millennials we have the tipping vote. We have the power to determine who will be the next leader of the free world. That's actually a huge responsibility. And since we're just becoming adults, it's time for us to start being responsible and to help ourselves, we have a responsibility to vote.

Since we have a responsibility to vote, you have to make sure you do it for the right reason.Voting is a right in our country, a right that many millennials do not want to use. Other millennials do not want to vote because of the presumptive candidates. Some are voting so the other doesn't get into office. Others don't think their vote counts. Whatever the reason may be, you have to vote.

Not voting is possibly the worst thing to do in this election. That means you don't care about your leader. The leader who makes laws that we have to follow. The leader who decides how we pay for college. The leader who decides these and other major decisions that will impact our lives. Not voting means you don't care not only about your country, but the voice you now have.

Don't not vote, but don't vote for the wrong reasons. Don' vote so that the other does not get in office. Vote to use the voice that we just got. Think of it like a baby walking for the first time. Once they start, they don't want to stop; once you vote, you always want your voice heard. You should vote to honor your responsibility, let your voice be heard, and, for the first time, choice who you want to lead our country.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
