You Do Not Know Me By My Outfit

You truly do not know someone based on their outfit.

You Do Not Know Me By My Outfit

So, let me get this straight—you are going to sit here and tell me the way someone dresses portrays a person's true character? Well, in a way I guess you are right because if they look like they do not care about life or looking decent then they may actually think that.

But I disagree. Let me explain: someone can be the nicest dresser in the room and they may seem as if they have it all together but, in reality, they do not. Someone can dress and seem as if they have nothing and have everything. Now, in reality, if someone dresses as if they have nothing people will think they have nothing and will not want to speak or do anything with that person. Correct?

If someone looks as if they have it all together everyone is going to want to speak and introduce themselves. Correct?

We are taught to work with or do things with the person who is looking their best. Correct? Someone stop me and let me know if I am wrong. Your parents or someone you look up to tell you "Those people over there. Do not be like them." Giving us the mindset of someone who could give us a negative impact on our lives.

So what is the point of this article you may be asking. The reason behind this article is to explain that style is one of the grey areas of the world. No matter how you look on the outside if the person does not know you, they do not know your background. Since they do not know you, they now can create some alternate life for you that may not be you.

For example, I will use myself from what I have been told I dress as if I am from DC or New York to people who do not know my background. In reality, I am from Lancaster, South Carolina, a very small town. In this gray area of style and perception, there is no winning. So, when you wake up expect someone to think of your life in a different way! So dress presentably, folks!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
