Recently I went to go see the movie “La La Land.” It was a movie I longed to see since the first trailer was released months ago, a trailer that had no words save for the melody of a piano playing in the background. This was the first movie that left me completely speechless when I walked out of the theater. As a massive movie fan, I have seen some pretty good movies and some pretty bad ones, but this one—this one is a game changer. I can confidently say that “La La Land” was the best movie I have ever seen.

“La La Land” is the story about a struggling Jazz Pianist and an aspiring actress. Both have their fair share of issues throughout the movie while trying to make their dreams come true. The reason this movie matters is because they are ordinary people trying to make their dreams come true. This movie is relatable on so many levels because it is a story about struggles we all know and deal with. Struggles of being afraid that you can’t make your dreams come true, struggles that come with relationships, struggles of growing up and it's all put to music and dancing.

“La La Land” received seven Golden Globe nominations and won in every category. This film is the third film that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have done together, and I think it’s safe to say it’s the best one. Damien Chazelle, the director, has an eye like no other and will be remembered for his vision and incredible craftsmanship. The film has received 14 Oscars nominations. Both won for Best Actor/Actress in a Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and both have received Oscar Nominations.

Also, can we take a minute to appreciate Ryan Gosling’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes? I mean come on, how can someone actually be that perfect? All I can say is that Eva Mendes is a lucky girl.

One of the many gems about this movie is the music. As someone who appreciates music as much as life itself, I fell in love with the soundtrack when I first saw the trailer. The Jazz piano melodies that are woven throughout the entire film crafted it to be an instant classic. All of the pure and impeccable melodies, songs and lyrics written into the film made it that much better. The jazz in this movie spoke about issues in life that we can all relate to, not being able to make our dreams come true and slowly falling in love. The jazz made me remember just how much I truly appreciated that type of bluesy, soulful and whimsical music.

There are very few films that have effected me the way “La La Land” has. I cannot even begin to express how perfect this film is. People have said that this is the new “Singing In the Rain” but I disagree. This is not a new version of any film, but the first of it’s kind. It speaks of relatable issues, has beautiful ascetic and was casted perfectly.

“La La Land” is a film that will go down in history as one of the best.

*Side Note: Saw this SNL sketch of "La La Land" and it is one of the most accurate things I've seen. My friend and I have said this to people.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
