It is ok to feel your feelings.
But sometimes it helps when you can talk to someone about your feelings.
I recently have been going to therapy sessions and my therapist is constantly giving me tools and coping mechanisms to help me cope with my new found anxiety and insecurities.
I have to say that coming out of a therapy session makes you feel more confident and releases a lot of stress. It's always good to talk to your BFF about what's going on in your life, but sometimes getting a professionals opinion on what's going on in your life can help you emotionally get through the day, week, or month.
It also opens your mind to new ideas and ways of living your everyday life.
I hate that therapy has this stigma attached to it that it isn't "cool" or there must be something wrong with you if you have to go to therapy. There is no "having to go" either. It is a decision I have made myself to better my mental health and state of mind.
Also while we are on the topic of mental health can we please stop incorrectly self-diagnosing ourselves with "OCD" and "Anxiety"? I wish I could count the countless number of tweets I see of teens talking about their so-called "anxiety" in a joking manner. Why is your mental health something to talk about? Because last time I checked that is not something that you should be joking about.
In conclusion, don't be scared to try out a therapy session. I promise nothing bad can come out of it.
