“She is fat.”
“Look at that. OMG she looks so funny.”
“Eww, I can literally count her bones.”
This is 2016.
And the world is still full of body shaming. This has gone too far, too long. So why not put an end to it?
Fashion, as everything surrounding it, is constantly changing and evolving. But people are still the same. They talk and talk. They criticize and are extremely quick to make negative comments, but reluctant when it comes to sharing good ones.
Right now you talking to yourself, saying “What can you do? It’s the fashion world.”
But, really. Is it?
Fashion is art and art is not one-sided. Just like us people. It can never remain the same. Every single person in this world has a unique style and a unique way of representing themselves. So why do people still see the fashion world as the world of skinny?
Even Gigi Hadid lost weight. I would never have thought that she would give in to pressure and change her appearance. But that is exactly what happened. One day she was telling us to eat burgers, have cheat-days and own our natural curves. The other, however, she lost a lot of weight. Maybe it was because she was conforming to a stereotype, maybe it was just a natural change in her body like she claimed. Who knows?
The only thing that I can be sure of is that we are all one of a kind. We are all beautiful in our own ways. Numbers should not define who we are or what we can achieve. Numbers should not scare us.
Yes, insecurities are created by the society and implanted by negativity. But we, as individuals, can put an end to it. Just find a mirror and look at yourself.
You are beautiful.
You are one of a kind.
You are bigger than a number.
