Boys, romanticize yourselves. You are more than what society tells you. You are more that who you think you are. You’re not some macho being who can’t show emotions and compassion, but instead a human who has so much more potential to be in small ways than what society instructs.

You are a king. You have the power to shape your destiny and become who you want to be. All you have to do is take the first step towards your success. Your world is your kingdom, but be sure to care for those who are in your world. Don’t abuse your power, but use your mind to determine right from wrong and good from bad. Don’t allow yourself to push aside those who care for you just so that you can get what you want from life, but instead consider the other person as more important. To use a quote former president John F. Kennedy, “ask not what [others] can do for you, ask what you can do for [others].”

You are a warrior. You are strong and powerful. Though remember that the strongest warriors were and are the ones who could and can recognize the pain and suffering of others. You’re a warrior who can choose what he is passionate about and fight for it. But warriors have a reason for fighting, and it’s always a reason that is logical and drives them forward with purpose. It fuels their power and spurs them onward, even though times may be tough. So find the reason you are a warrior, and let the reason that you find be good.

You are an enchanter. You can capture the world around you in your mind and share it with others through words, thoughts, deeds and so much more. You can make a powerful emotion flourish in nearly anyone. Joy. You can make a smile spread across an old womans face, you can make a young boy strive to spread his own joy some day. You can capture and enrapture the attention of nearly anyone just by being you.

You are an angel. You are a creation of God that he has made and is proud of. You’re a treasure and a gem, a darling, a dear, and a star. You’re a heavenly work worthy of speaking directly to He who made you.

You are all of these things and more. You’re a lover, a fighter, an encouragement and comforter. You’re a leader and follower, an admirer and a supporter.

You are the stuff of fairytales. You fight dragons and rescue princesses, save the day and make the crowds cheer in joy. You save kingdoms from evil and spread peace throughout the land.

So boys, romanticize yourselves. You are a king. You are a warrior. You are an enchanter. You are an angel. You are all of these things and more. You are the stuff of fairytales.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
