Thoughts are powerful things. They control and dictate a lot of what we do as individuals. When you have positive thoughts and a positive mindset, then you are more able to be positive and happy in your physical life. When your thoughts are negative or deconstructive, it can take a toll on your mindset and your body. Negative thoughts can equal a negative life.

It is not only about thoughts and whether they are positive or negative either. When your mind is in a negative or depressed state, it affects your entire body. Many people do not understand that when you are not in the correct mental state, it affects your bodies physical state. It's like when you break your leg; it's a physical disability that physically affects you.

Pushing these negative and depressing thoughts out of your mind can be hard, but it is necessary. When you are down and out, you are more susceptible to becoming sick, fatigued, or suffer from long-term depression. Changing that mindset from negative to positive can affect your mood, your energy and essentially your life.

Sometimes, it's not about pushing the thoughts out; it's about learning to live with them. Overcoming these powerful negative thoughts is difficult; believe me, I know. Our mind often says that we need to give up, when we really need to do is push forward and know that better days are soon to come.

College is hard and life is even harder, but we need to look towards the good in each day otherwise we will be overcome with the bad.

Some ways that will help with changing our outlook on life is to journal, meditate, or taking a walk outside. Journaling is proven to help with stress and the negatives of life; writing it out and reflecting on your day can help your mind move on in the long run.

Meditating can reduce stress and anxiety; just 10 minutes of meditation can clear your head and help you to be in a better mindset. Taking a walk outside can reduce depression and anxiety, and help our bodies get moving as well. All of these can benefit in different ways.

Having depression, anxiety, and stress can take a serious toll on our physical and mental body, but overcoming this and looking for a positive outlet to let loose is healthy for our mind and body, and can seriously help us in the end.

Keep your thoughts positive, and you'll be positive.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
