Forever Underserving Never Not Yearning

You are so FUN-NY

Forever. Underserving. Never. Not. Yearning.

We want, want, want, want, want. We as humans always want something.

FOREVER.

How long have you wanted that new jacket? Forever?

How long have you wanted that shiny car? Forever?

How long have you wanted to see that band in concert? Forever?

Common questions you probably hear quite regularly.

But, just how many times do you hear someone ask something about Jesus.

How long have you wanted to meet Jesus? Forever?

How long have you wanted to go to Heaven? Forever?

Has it been forever? No, probably not. You had to subconsciously make the decision of accepting Christ so that Heaven could even be an option for you. This choice, or rather life decision can be quite hard for some people. Why? Because most people are too busy FOREVER wanting that new jacket, car, concert, & etc.

We are FOREVER wanting the wrong things.

UNDESERVING.

We are so undeserving of everything! Undeserving of the shirt, the car, & the concert. And of forever in Heaven. The truth is, we don’t deserve any of it. But….we still want it, right? Of course, we want it, but would we give anything up for it?

Would you still want the car if you had to lose your sight?

Would you still want the jacket if you had to lose your arms?

Would you still want the concert tickets if you had to lose your hearing?

Probably not because it would seem completely worthless to you.

But, do you still want forever in Heaven even though God had to lose his life?

Yes, of course. What kind of a question is that? God still wants us after having to die on the cross.

Why?

Because we are so full of worth.

GOD’S WORTH.

We are so full of the worth that God instills in us, but yet we are not worthy of his forgiveness and love.

We are FOREVER UNDESERVING.

NEVER.

After all that God has done for us, we are NEVER satisfied. We are always wanting more this and more that. But when was the last time we wanted more God? For some it is often, for others it is every now and then, and for most it is NEVER.

Some people never seek God. Why?? They are far too consumed seeking every other ungodly thing the world has to offer.

Most never see the need or have the WANT for God, but yet can see the want or “need” in that concert, jacket, or car.

FOREVER wanting. NEVER giving.

NOT.

I am NOT okay with this. We as Christians should not be okay with this.

It is not okay to expect God to forgive you of your sins if you do not give him anything.

You should not be okay with NOT craving more of God.

The world behind me and the cross before me.

YEARNING.

This goes back to all of our wants. We are never not yearning. We are never not yearning for materialistic, worthless things of the world.

We are never deserving, but never not yearning.

We are not yearning for the right things. We are not yearning for a closer relationship with God.

“O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1

There is nothing you should want or yearn for more than a relationship with God. There is nothing that has more worth. There is nothing that can satisfy your soul more. There is nothing in this world worth risking forever in Heaven for.

You see, we are FOREVER UNDESERVING of everything and NEVER NOT YEARNING for all the wrong things.

It’s not funny to be FUN-NY.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
